Samsung Galaxy A55 Unveils Exynos 1480 SoC and AMD RDNA2-based Xclipse 530 GPU

Samsung’s highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy A55 has taken a significant step forward in the tech world, revealing its powerhouse of a chipset through a recent Geekbench run. The Exynos 1480 SoC, succeeding the A54’s 1380 and the A53’s 1280, brings an intriguing twist with the adoption of an AMD RDNA2-based Xclipse 530 GPU, as confirmed by the benchmark results.

The standout feature is the Xclipse 530 GPU, a departure from the conventional Mali GPU, and it holds the promise of enhanced gaming capabilities, potentially supporting ray tracing. While this exciting prospect awaits confirmation, it signals a significant upgrade in GPU performance compared to its predecessors.

On the CPU front, the Exynos 1480 exhibits improvements over the 1380, although not groundbreaking. Geekbench scores for the Samsung Galaxy A55 show a single-core score of 1,127 and a multi-core score of 2,090. Though not a substantial leap from the A54, the enhanced GPU suggests a positive direction for the A5x series.

The prototype device featured 8GB of RAM, mirroring the A54’s maximum capacity. Rumored specifications include a 6.5-inch FHD+ 120 Hz OLED screen, a 50 MP main camera, and 25W wired charging support (charger not included). Fans can anticipate a notable boost in graphics and overall performance.

As the Galaxy A55 gears up for its official launch, enthusiasts can expect a compelling blend of cutting-edge technology and improved GPU capabilities, setting the stage for an exciting addition to Samsung’s best-selling line of smartphones.
