In the latest leak surrounding Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S series, renowned tipster Revegnus has detailed the anticipated camera upgrades for the upcoming Ultra models, spanning from the Galaxy S24 to the S26. These revelations come after the settling of rumored details for the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s camera system.
According to the leak, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is set to feature a substantial enhancement in its periscope camera, transitioning from a 10MP sensor with 1.12µm pixels to an impressive 50MP sensor with 0.7µm pixels. Notably, users will have the option to choose between larger pixels with binning for improved image quality or increased zoom capability. Samsung’s commitment to high-resolution sensors for telephoto cameras is also emphasized.
Looking ahead to the Galaxy S25 Ultra in 2024, significant upgrades are expected. The main lens will receive a new iteration, while the ultra-wide module is poised for a remarkable boost to a 50MP sensor, a considerable leap from the 12MP counterparts in the S23 and S24 Ultras. Of particular interest is the rumored addition of a variable focal length to the periscope camera, a feature currently exclusive to Sony. This innovation promises enhanced zoom quality by delaying in-sensor zoom until the optical zoom limit is reached.
The most significant overhaul arrives with the Galaxy S26 Ultra in 2026. The main camera sensor is set to grow from the existing 1/1.3” 0.6µm to an expansive 1.1” 0.7µm, maintaining a resolution of 200MP.
It’s worth noting that the Galaxy S25 and S25+ will also undergo sensor upgrades, albeit less extensive than their Ultra counterpart. Anticipation is building for the imminent release of the S24 series, expected to debut in mid-January.
